We did my research on search engines and AI to find the meaning of all these Old-Germanic words. A couple of favorites:

ending on -au: this is a piece of land bordering a water body (Brunau, Auzelg). Translated with banks.

ending on -ikon: means court where a certain tribe would have settled. So Wiedikon would be a place where Wiedo & his bros dwelled.

bach would probably be creek in English, but I haven’t spotted a creek at Hegibachplatz yet and there is definitely no wild creek at the Wildbachstrasse.

dorf is ofcourse a village, but I noticed that it’s more common to see places with “ville” than village in the US. So I chose for Rainville for Regensdorf

tal would be a valley, in English topographical names the suffix -dale or -vale is more common.
